What You Can Benefit from the Word

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
Psalm 19:7

Many things have been said about God and His word. The passage above is another of such testimonial offering us an insight into certain attributes and benefits one can derive from the word of God.

In a world full of imperfections, where the consensus of even the most superior of all God’s creatures – humans – is that no one is perfect, it takes a lot of boldness to describe anything around as perfect. But that is exactly how the Psalmist describes the law of God, it is perfect; there is no inadequacy in it. It is perfect for all situations.

Furthermore, God’s law is not just perfect, it also has the ability to convert the human soul from depravity to glory. The soul is at the centre of whatever heights anyone can attain. Therefore, it is important for the soul to remain in a state that stimulates optimism and vigour. But, this is not possible at all times, as there will always be times when the soul is downcast and shorn of the vibrancy needed for accomplishments. At such times, the word of God comes in handy to reignite the soul’s enthusiasm.

Another attribute of the word of God is its certainty; it never misses. That is why the Psalmist says it is sure. And with this comes its ability to turn a simpleton into a wise person and make an entity out of a nonentity. There is no better place you can find the law and testimony of God outside the Bible. Therefore, the Bible is perfect, the Bible can convert your soul; the Bible is sure, and the Bible can make you wise.

You will succeed in Jesus Name!
